Local Council Yavne'el (from Joshua 19:33) is situated in a small valley on the sloops of Naphtali Mounts, about 10 KMS SW to Tiberias on AfulaKinneret road. Est. 1901 as Yama. Pop: 2200. The Local Council also includes the settlements of Smadar (est. 1956), Bet Gan (est. 1903) and Mishmar HaShlosha (est. 1937). In my visit I spotted two emblems, a municipal one and a 100th anniversary one. Flags showing the municipal emblem were:

First named Yama after an biblical town by that name, it was
founded in 1901 and became Local council in 1951. The Farmers
Federation, The Agriculture Workers Federation, The Galilee
Squadron and Golani Infantry Regiment
were founded here. Yavne'el long-forgotten small air-strip was
used also for airlifting illegal Jewish immigrants from Iraq
during the Mandate era.
During the last years there are clashes between the veteran
settlers and ultra-orthodox religious newcomers which now are
almost 40% of the 2700 inh.
