Shield Azure an impending building Or with three stairs, two towers with roofs Gules and an inescutcheon Azure on its gate, charged with a wheel Or.
Meaning:
Located around important cross roads a settlement of merchants developed in the 12th century, followed by a settlement of miners in the 13th century. Since 1286 the status of a market town is proven. Mining increased and Oederan gained the privileges of a mining city in 1583. The main business line had been textiles industry. The pattern of the arms is based on a stamp from 1550. The wheel is symbolising that the city could be reached only by waggons but not by ship. The building is symbolising the status of a city.
