Meaning:
The village originally had been a possession of the Counts of Dillingen. The Benedictine Neresheim Abbey had been their privileged monastery and owned large estates in the village. In 1275 the Teutonic Order acquired the biggest part of the real estates and of the privileges, among those especially the local cognisance. The order kept its privileges until the 19th century. The black cross is representing the order. The lions are taken from the family arms of the counts and had also been part of the arms of the Neresheim Abbey. The tinctures white and blue are those of the Dukes of Bayern, who held the high level cognisance since 1271. In 1505 the village became a part of the Principality of Pfalz-Neuburg.
