This flag was approved by the Heraldic Committee of the Czech Parliament
on 26 May 2000.
Petr Exner, 27 Dec 2001
Staré Město (Old Town) is now a suburb of Uherske Hradiste in SE Czechia.
It is in the district of Uherske Hradiste. Description: great Moravian
rotond behind the palissade of yellow pales. Cross on top of the roof is
also yellow. This is the flag I saw flying there.
Aleš Križan, 21 Dec 2000
Staré Město's Public Notice Nr.03/2001:"On symbols of Staré Město town".
Well, I was wrong about high of palisade in the flag. Public Notice
described it as follows:
" Flag of the town
Blue field with yellow palisade from lower edge reaching to (meaning
"high as...") 5/13 of the flags weight. Behind the palisade there is a
white round chapel with apsis, red roofs and yellow crosslet on a
top. Ratio is 2:3...." Although Mr. Exner's image accords to this description,
the really used flag has double cross on top and chapel depicted with end
turned to the viewer and seems to have one window only. This fact
I discussed with Stare Mesto Town Clerk (Town Secretary or clerk is a Head
of Municipal Office. He is appointed by Mayor, not elected).
