"Por Acuerdo N° 001, del 19 de Noviembre de 1982, el
Concejo de Envigado, adoptó la bandera Municipal, acogiéndose a
las normas establecidas en nuestra constitución.
De acuerdo al articulado del mandato edilicio, se tomó el color
verde como símbolo de la Antioqueñ:idad que siempre ha
caracterizado a las gentes de Envigado, unido al color naranja
emblema de la pujanza, dinamismo y proyección hacia el
desarrollo y el progreso constante de permanente vigencia en la
ciudad."

The flag was officially adopted by Decree #001 on 19 November
1982. Green represents Antioquian character
("Antioquieñidad") Orange represents power, dynamism
and progress.
Envigado was granted municipal status in 1814. It has the highest
standard of living among the Colombian municipalities.

during a tv add, one can see the variant flag of Envigado with the coat of arms
in the middle.

The Coat of Arms was designed by Presbiterian Julio César
Jaramillo Restrepo in the 1960's but it was officially adopted by
Municipal Agreement No. 019 of December 1, 1994, by the City
Council..

Medellín and its Metropolitan Area - Medellín, the captial
of the Department of Antioquia, together with other
municipalities, form the "Área Metropolitana del Valle de
Aburrá, or Metropolotian Area of the Aburra Valley. This
is for economic purposes, in order to get more funds from the
central government. They have an English page available

This "Area" is made up of 7 municipalities, which are
as follows:
Caldas
La Estrella
Sabaneta
Itaguí
Envigado
Medellín
Bello
Copacabana
Girardota
Barbosa.
(Each one has its own flag, anthem and Coat of Arms). For
now, only Bello, Envigado anfd Itagüí have theyr symbols ready
