Wave cut divided by white with two crossed black arrows with white blood grooves and by black.
The arrows point to the center of Buch, the chapel dedicated to Saint Sebastian (they are his attributes).
The wavy base symbolizes the Thur river. The colours black and white reveal the former affiliation to the
jurisdiction of the Ittingen Charterhouse.
(Criticism: Blood grooves are found on cutting and stabbing weapons and are actually a misleading term.
The blood groove served to improve the stability of the blade while reducing weight. On arrows, blood
grooves were rather rare and only found on hunting arrows. However, these were on the arrowhead and
never on the shaft.)
