About the Flag

The municipality of Ourizona (3,380 inhabitants in 2010; 17,646 ha) is located 375 km north-west of Curitiba.

Ourizona was established by Nicolau Nasser on Gleba Condor, a vast domain owned by Companhia de Terras Melhoramentos Norte do Paraná. Nasser planted 150,000 coffee trees and named the place Ourizona, Gold Land, as a reference to the nickname of coffee, Green Gold.
The municipality of Ourizona was established by State Law No. 4,245 promulgated on 25 July 1960, separating from Mandaguaçu, and inaugurated on 19 November 1961.

The flag of Ourizona is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 2, promulgated in 1969.

The flag is quartered per saltire green and yellow, charged in the center with a blue disc charged with a white curvy stripe inscribed with "OURIZONA" in green letters.
The flag was designed by Eunice Barbosa Machado, Professor of Arts and (Artistic and Commercial) Design.
