The well is representing former Vila Verde Commune, the stars former Barbudo Commune.

Vila Verde e Barbudo is one of the 12 communes of Municipality created by a merger during the 2013 changes. It had 7376 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 8,02 km².

Coat of Arms

Shield Vert with base wavy of Argent and Azure a well Argent pouring water Azure, on either chief corner a grape bunch Or leafed Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and short white scroll, in Bénard Guedes style, reading in black upper case serifed letters "FREGUESIA DE VILA VERDE".
Meaning:
The base wavy is a representation of the Homem River. The well is the small local well located on Republic Square (Praça da Republica). The grape bunches are symbolising viticulture.
