Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "GRANJA DO TEDO".
Meaning:
The phrase "Granja do Tedo" means roughly "Thedon´s Grange", refering to an illegitimate grandson of King Ramiro III of Leon, who founded the
village around 1030; the word "granja" entered Portuguese usage only a century later, refering back then to intramural conventual intensive polyculture for local subsistence. The mentioned anthroponym was coopted as the name of the local Tedo River, a first level Douro tributary, for which the wavy base stands, the arms being therefore partly canting.
