It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of white and black.

Shield Sable a five-arch aqueduct throughout Argent masoned Sable, in chief a papal tiara Or bejewelled Proper and lined Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "ARCOS - TABUAÇO"
Meaning:
The word "arcos means "arches" (also "arcs" and "bows"); the arms are canting, even though the kind of arches that originated this toponym were not those of any bridge or aqueduct. The tiara is an attribute of St. Sylvester, the localpatron saint.

Arcos is one of the nine communes of Tabuaço Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes ; it had 163 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 7,90 km².
