It was a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain green field.
Source yields a misleading flag-like depiction on a putative green flag, the arms with its shield in a different shade of green and the scroll in same shade of green as the flag background.
The green on the putative flag background and scroll is off to the olive (yellowish) side, while the shield is off to the teal (bluish) side.
