Coat of Arms

image from the Municipal Council

The council informed me their coat of arms was adopted during in a council session on 23 January 1998, being designed by the architect Fermín Santoscoy; he presented an example to the council and it was approved unanimously. In a seal bearing the National Colors: At the bottom is its original name as an hacienda and first 19 years as a municipality, LA ESTANZUELA; and the municipal name: T. GARCIA DE LA CADENA, ZAC. At the top of the shield, a ribbon reading LABOR VINCIT OMNIA [Work Conquers All]; above this, a crown with a cross remembering the Spanish era. At the bottom, two olive branches and the year 1869, when the hacienda here was expropriated by the state. In the center of the shield is the cipher of King Philip II of Spain: PL$ II. To the upper-left, the sun; to the upper-right, the moon as a crescent. These three elements recognize the State Coat of Arms. The lower-left depicts the keys to Heaven for faith. To the lower-right, a mountain for its geography.
