Coat of Arms

In 1954, with the motive of the first centenary of the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception, it was decided that as a project the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe would be crowned by the coat of arms of the bishopric and parish. Since there was no parish coat of arms, the Priest Ismael Fernández decided to design one depicting Ojocaliente. About five years later, the Council adopted it as the municipal coat of arms. The border of the shield is purple, reading at the top EGO SUM VITIS [I AM THE VINE]; at the bottom VOS PALMITES [You are the Branches], referencing the motto of the municipality. At the upper-left section, a cluster of grapes and its vines, referencing the wineries here and the associated industry. To the upper-right, a fleur-de-lis for the nobility of its inhabitants; at the bottom, the Papantón Hill bearing a cross recognizing the faith brought by the conquerors. Under this, a stream of water recognizing the richness of underground water, and to the right fertile soil.
