Coat of Arms

The coat of arms of Moyahua de Estrada was adopted on 10 October 1998, being designed by Enrique Rodríguez Méndez as Municipal Chronicler. He submitted the proposal to Raúl Tello Alvarado as General Secretary and Carmen Haro Ponce, who applied the motto. The council originally submitted a call for proposals, but no submissions were received. Under the shield is a ribbon reading MOYAHUA DE ESTRADA, ZAC. On top of the shield, the National Eagle eating a serpent for patriotism. To the sides, mantling is visible for decoration. The shield is scrolled in its sides. In the lower half of the border is the motto MOYAHUA LEAL, ALEGRE Y HOSPITALARIO [Loyal, Happy, and Hospitable Moyahua].

To the upper-left section, a view of Cerro del Campamento with clouds in the background and bearing a cross; it is believed a spring was there and Miguel Hidalgo camped there, with two hands shaking over it in respect. To the upper-right, an image of Saint James the Apostle. To the lower-left, a head of cattle and corn plant for the economic activities. And finally, to the lower-right, an image of a Tastuan ritual dancer, appearing during the patron saint festival of Saint James.
