Coat of Arms

image from Wikimedia Commons

The coat of arms was adopted in 1983 during the administration of Ildefonso Ortega Martínez and designed by Eduardo Anselmo Alvarado García, who won a contest for the design of a municipal coat of arms the same year. It depicts fish, a cart filled with ore, cattle, an agricultural product, a transmission tower, and the El Novillo dam; the dam's runoff forms an "S", ending at a bridge leading to more water. A bridge exists going over the runoff. At the very bottom are the words "MUNICIPIO DE SOYOPA".
