The coat of arms was designed by Manuel Vázquez Carrasco, at the initiative of Municipal President Isidro Molina Fernández (1977-1980). Description according to Héraldica Municipal de Chihuahua:
It is resolved over Spanish field, its blazons are: a Spaniard which makes reference to the foundation of the population in the year of 1604 by Fray Alonso de Oliva, the Temple [San Francisco de Asís church] signifies the period of the Colony in which it was constructed (1710) an Indian represents the three tribes: Apaches, Comanches, and Conchos; the missionary symbolizes the Franciscans which founded this town and were the evangelizers of the indigenes; the dam [La Boquilla dam] signifies that Lake Toronto is composed within the municipality, the fish represents a natural resource of the municipality, the corn and wheat make reference to agriculture.
At the top is a ribbon reading "San Francisco del Conchos" and a crown as its crest, signifying its past. The motto, "TRABAJO AMISTAD VALENTIA" [Work, Friendship, Bravery] is found in a ribbon below.
