Takasaki city in Gunma adopted its flag on January 1st 1981.

Stylized two ancient kanji Taka of Takasaki in diamond shape.

The emblem is as established in the 1920 city notice number 89 (in Japanese), dated 29 November.
The two ancient kanji taka taka (tall/expensive) are arrangd as on top of each other, one up, one down, to form a diamond.
