Ecser is a large village in Vecsés district of Pest county, in Budapest metropolitan area.
Its territory has been inhabited for a long time, and archaeological excavations have found traces of Celts, Sarmatians and Romans.
It was depopulated during the Turkish rule, then settled mostly by Slovaks, and still has a Slovak minority today.
The development was due to its proximity to the capital. It has now become bordered by Budapest due to gradual construction.
In the early 2000s, the population of the settlement increased by almost a third.

Ecser municipality doesn’t have own flag! (It was also verbally confirmed by Mayor’s Office, when I called them.)

The coat of arms is a blue shield with a silver stream motif on a green field, above it on the left are five figures in Ecser folk costume standing in front of a triple mound,
three of whom are women, two are men, and one of whom is holding a fokus. On the right is a drawing of the Ecser Roman Catholic Church.
In the upper part of the coat of arms, on the triple mound in a blue field, there are three
oak trees, of which the two outermost are smaller and the middle one is larger.
The middle oak tree is depicted with 4 branches. On each side is a oak sapling with leaves growing out of the ground.
Above the coat of arms, the inscription 'ECSER' in capital letters can be seen.
The coat of arms was adopted by Local Government Decree 8/1999. (IV.9.) issued on 9 April 1999.
