Overview

Etyek is a large village in Bicske district of Fejér County, approximately 30 km from Budapest. The area is surrounded by vineyards and is known for its wine-production. The Korda Studios film production facility has been established there.
The name of the village originally comes from the personal name Ete. From 10 to 379 AD, a Roman colony was located in this place. From 379 to the Hungarian Conquest (896), Huns, Avars, and Eraviscus lived here. Between 896 and 1326, the village was part of the Csák clan's Fejér County estates. In 1326, it became a royal estate, and from the mid-14th century until 1543, it became the property of the Székesfehérvár chapter.
Between 1543 and 1686, it was annexed as a Turkish territory. In 1637, the village was donated to the Jesuit monastery in Komárom, who settled 112 German families in the village between 1720 and 1770. In 1777, Maria Theresa also donated Etyek to the restored Székesfehérvár chapter.

Coat of Arms

The coat of arms is a diagonally divided shield, red on top and black on the bottom. In the upper field, the old, famous, abundant spring of Etyek, the Magyar-kút, can be seen with its characteristic natural stone facade, five dragon-headed gargoyles and the pump house built above it. In the lower field, a bunch of grapes, symbolizing the village's dominant agricultural activity, grape production and winemaking, occupies the center line of the coat of arms. Above it, an ear of wheat, a sprig of barberry, and a grafting knife taken from the seal of the charter of the German settlers settled by Maria Theresa appear as a bouquet.
The name of the settlement was inscribed on a silver ribbon under the shield in Hungarian and German.
The coat of arms was adopted by the same Local Government Decree.
