Overview

Cece is a large village in Sárbogárd district of Fejér county in Central Transdanubia region.
The village was probably founded and named by the Pechenegs who settled in the decades after the death of Saint Stephen. The settlement was named after its owner named Czecze. It was first mentioned in a charter of Béla III in 1193. The typical gentry village became the property of the Meszlényi family in 1701.
The population was mainly engaged in farming and animal husbandry, and the majority still make a living from agriculture today. Their famous crops are Cece peppers and watermelons.
