A gyronny Azure and Gules an escutcheon Or bearing a ram's head couped Sable.
Christopher Southworth
The head on the flag of Mergoscia is from a he-goat (in Italian capro), it alludes to the
nickname of the inhabitants: Capron. The flag also underlines the geographical position of this
commune, Mergoscia being the geographical center of Ticino canton, hence the position of the shield in
the center of a gironny made of the cantonal colours.
