Flag

From Infozona, 1 August 2018:

On the 127th anniversary of the founding of the General Belgrano district, the flag that will identify the District and represent it throughout history was presented, along with the Coat of Arms created by Nostor Sola. This flag was selected through a competition, with the design by Martín Neira, a Belgrano native and graduate in Visual Communication, being the winner.

At the bottom are the Salado River and our country's flag symbolized. The river was chosen because it delimits a large part of the district, because of the city's fishing and tourism development, and because of our country's flag, an icon of our identity created by Manuel Belgrano. Both symbols are represented by a pair of wavy light blue lines. The wavy lines not only represent the current of the water but also the changing state of the river, as the Pampas called it in ancient times, "Tubicha-Mini," meaning "big-small," due to the cyclical periods of flooding and drought that caused its waters to become uncontrolled. The same wavy lines, in the case of the flag, represent the movement of the river as it flutters from the top of the flagpole.

Above is a white background, the predominant color of this flag, which represents the purity and peace that characterize this rural town. We represent the party's growth on the white background through an image detailed below, which denotes symbolic features that refer to the strength of the field.

At the bottom, we find a sprout that represents the daily effort required to get ahead. The six green furrows represent the work done in the fields, both to cultivate the land for crops and to raise livestock. To represent the six areas found in the district (Ibáñez, Chas, La Chumbeada, Newton, Colonia El Salado, Bonnement), six divisions were made in the aforementioned furrows.

At the top of this image is the yellow sun, representing the strength and vitality of the region's production, where agriculture and livestock farming have historically flourished. The sun was chosen to be represented in this way, as if it were a sunrise or sunset, to reflect the efforts of the residents from early morning until late afternoon. Surrounding these previously detailed images are two wheat fields, representing one of the many fruits the land produces in the area, and the end of this work process that begins with planting a seed and ending with harvesting the crop.

This emblem symbolizes the growth and effort of this community. Two wheat fields were chosen because they are the largest population centers in the district: Gorchs and General Belgrano.
