Description of the flag

In 1909 in Ocean Gate a number of summer residents from Philadelphia decided to form a club. Its purpose would be “to promote yachting and rowing and to foster athletic sports upon the water and to promote the interests and welfare of Ocean Gate.” Thus was born the Ocean Gate Yacht Club. The club built a clubhouse, finished in 1912, which for unknown reasons they build not on solid ground but rather on a set of piles in front of the coast.
In 1914 the club became a charter member for the Barnegat Bay Yacht Racing Association. For many years afterwards, the club was still plagued by its building decision, until in 1994 a new clubhouse was dedicated on dry land. Even so, more than any success on the water, it's this piece of information that forms the bulk of their club history.

The club's burgee is a red edge, with inside it a white edge, and within that a blue centre, all shaped as the burgee is.
