The previous flag of Rolling Meadows was adopted in 1961 but its four-quadrant city seal was found to be unconstitutional by a Federal Court of Appeals in 1991 owing to religious symbols being included. These symbols were removed and then replaced with the silhouette of a family in 1995. In addition to the seal, the city has been identified with several different logos over the years, with the last update in the late 1990s. Therefore, in August 2023 the city decided to develop a new brand and visual identity. A new logo and a new seal, which had been developed by Selbert Perkins Design after a year of community research, were adopted by the city council in October and December 2024. The new graphic elements represent the waves and hills that are thought of when fields of “rolling meadows” are seen. According to the designer, the new logo offers a "bolder, more modern look that is also an evolution of the current logo." The new flag with a white logo and green field appeared in the city council chamber in May 2025.
