This version lacks the abbreviation CCNIS.
CCNIS is an umbrella organization grouping 43 associations representing the
Cacaopera, Chorolega, Lenca, Pipil and Xinca indigenous peoples. Its main
achievement was the adoption on 12 June 2014 by the Legislative Assembly of
Decree No. 707, published on 19 June 2014 in the official gazette No. 112, which
amends Article 63 of the Constitution as follows:
"El Salvador recognizes
indigenous people and shall adopt public policies to preserve and develop their
cultural and ethnic identity, cosmic vision, values and spirituality."
