Oboyan's flag is gold, and contains a black ferret in the center facing to the left. The flag was officially adopted on November 19th, 2020 and is heavily based on the coat of arms. Dimensions of the flag are 2:3.

Coat of Arms

The current coat of arms is relatively new, having been officially adopted on November 19th, 2020, the same day as the current flag. It is a golden shield with the black ferret in the middle because they are apparently everywhere here. A crown sits atop the shield to represent Oboyan's status as the 'capital' of Oboyansky District. Red seams within the crown represent Oboyan's historical status as the center of Oboyan Province from 1712 to 1719. The crown is technically optional, and variants with and without the crown are equally acceptable. Gold was chosen as the background color to represent wealth and sunlight, and black was chosen as the ferret's color to represent prudence, wisdom, modesty, and the 'eternity of existence'.

Historical Arms

The historical coat of arms dates back to 1780 and is divided into two parts. The upper part is greyish-blue with a descending blue bar that has three birds. The lower part is a ferret on a gold background.

The chief displays the arms of the Kursk Governorate, now used by the Kursk Oblast; its field, as stated in the message about the arms of Sudzha, is actually silver ("argent"), depicted as the light grey, the bluish shade being the result of the aging of the original image. The birds upon the blue bend should also be silver, although the depiction looks more like the proper color.
