Shield Azure, a bend sinister Argent, filled with cobblestones Sable, in dexter chief a sword flambant Or in pale, in sinister base an eradicated twig of water blinks Or garnished Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll (Bénard Guedes style) with inscription in black capitals "MERUGE".
Meaning:
The sword is an attribute of St. Michael, the local patron saint. The water blinks (Latin: Montia fontana; Port.: meruge) are canting.
