Shield Argent two sheep Sable respectant animated Gules, in chief a garb of three rye ears Vert tied Argent, issuant from flanches and from a base wavy Argent, charged with a barrulet wavy Azure, a mound of three coupeaux Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "VILA FRANCA DA SERRA".
Meaning:
The mound and its coupeaux are generically denotative of a mountain range, the additional epithet "da serra" (= "of the range"). The mound is thus a canting element. The base wavy is a representation of the Mondego River.

Vila Franca da Serra is one of the ten communes of Gouveia Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes ; it had 238 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 11,01 km².
