It is a fairly typical Portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a quarterly (meaning town rank) field of yellow and purple.

The coat of arms is argent, a lion purple, armed azure, bordure sable charged with four vine grapes or, alterning with four pomegranates or fruited gules. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA DA CHAMUSCA" (sometimes also "CÂMARA MUNICIPAL DA CHAMUSCA").

Chamusca municipality had 11 960 inhabitants in 1990, and it is divided in five communes, covering 746 km². It belongs to the Santarém District and to the old province of Ribatejo.
