Shield Vert, on a wall embattled Argent issuant from flanches a cross of Saint James Gules between two wheat ears Vert,
in chief a winged lion passant guardant Or with nimbus Argent holding an open book Argent, on base wavy Argent a bar wavy Azure.
Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and long white scroll, as often used by united communes,
with inscription in black capitals "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE ALCOUTIM E PEREIRO".

The arms are Argent a St. James sword-cross between two olive branches Vert fruited Sable crossed per saltire, in base two barrulets Azure. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading "FREGUESIA DE ALCOUTIM" in black upper case letters.

Alcoutim Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of the synonym Municipality (q.v.); it had 921 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 131.5 km².

Meaning:
The winged lion is an attribute of St. Mark, not the local patron saint.
