Konin County (Polish: powiat koniński) is a unit of territorial administration
and local government (powiat) in Greater Poland Voivodship, west-central
Poland. It was created on January 1, 1999 as a result of the Local Government
Reorganization Act of 1998. Its administrative seat is the city of Konin,
although the city is not part of the county (it constitutes a separate
city county).
Area: 1,578.71 sq.km (609.5 sq.mi); Population: 123,646 (2006).
Arms and flag adopted on March 30, 2001 (resolution # XXVI/157/01).
"Arms:shield divided by the yellow stripe running from the right bottom
to the left top of the shield. On the upper, red field a white eagle (of
Greater Poland -Wielkopolski) and on the lower, green field a white head
of the horse.
Flag: mirrors the Arms. Ratio is 5:8."
