Located in Shimotsuke City Tochigi Prefecture and established in 1972. The embroidered ceremonial flag has blue background with a gold emblem in gold fringe. Adopted in December 1974. The university flag has blue background with a white emblem in the center. The university emblem was selected by the school emblem review committee in December 1974 from among many entries from within the university. The thick curved line represents the initial "J" of Jichi Medical University and the "Japanese Islands" symbolizing the characteristics of the university (a university jointly established by all prefectures in Japan), and the kanji words "医大"medical university is placed within this line.
