Local Council Julis is situated east of Road 70 between the Akhi'ud and Kabri crossroads, 10 km east of Acre. It was founded in the 16th century and has 5000 inhabitants, mostly Druze. Local Council since 1967.
During my visit I spotted two variants of municipal flags were spotted on city hall, blue emblem on white and black emblem on green. The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot, Yalkut ha-Pirsumim), YP 1499, 16 January 1969.

According to the list of united or dissolved local authorities published in the official gazette (Rashumot), section Sefer HaHukim 1897, 5 August 2003, Local Councils Yirqa , Julis, Abu Sinan and Yanuh-Jat are united into a single local authority.

Julis was supposed to be part of the new "city of five" planned and legislated in 2003, but strong opposition of the locals brougt to reversal of the plan and it was abolished in 2004 and Julis us again an independent Local Council.
So local symbols are back in use.
Julis was the hometown of the late Sheikh Ameen Tareef , former leader of the Druze in Israel.
The origin of the name is unknown. There are three known versions:
1) From the ancient Jewish settlement of Jinas
2) After Julius Caesar
3) From the Arabic word Jalasa (To sit).
