Doboz is a large village in Békéscsaba district of Békés County, in the Southern Great Plain region of south-east Hungary.
It is an ancient Hungarian village. The origin of the name Doboz can be traced back to the Slavic "dub, dubova, dubovy = oak, oak forest".
Once a swampy place in the middle of an oak forest (oak box), it was a royal pig fattening place from St. Stephen to King Andrew II,
then the estate of the Huszt, Pázmán and Aba families. In the 16th century, it passed to the crown, then in the 17th century, the area belonged to the Veres family.
In the 18th century, it was plundered by the rebelling Rács.
Most recently, it was the center of the Wenckheim family's estate, the castle building is currently an elementary school,
designed by Miklós Ybl in the second half of the 19th century.

The flag of the settlement is white with its coat of arms placed in the center of the flag.
Based on the Local Government Decree on symbols, the name of the municipality is written over the coat of arms with green letters,
while year number 1075 is placed under the arms, and its ratio is 1:2. Inscriptions are omitted from real flags, only the coat of arms is depicted on it.
The flag ratio is 2:3.
The flag was originally adopted by Local Government Decree 5/1992. (VI.2.) issued on 02 June 1992,
the current legislation is Local Government Decree 13/2017. (VII.5.) issued on 05 July 2017.

The coat of arms shows an armored arm clutching a handle axe on a light blue field.
The blue color in the coat of arms symbolizes the waters characteristic of the landscape.
The coat of arms was adopted by the same Local Government Decree.
