The flag was
changed again in 2016 to light blue, on it the coat of arms in an appropriate,
better proportion to the flag in the middle of the same.

The flag from 2006 shows a white gazelle leaping to the left on a blue
background, on the fly end a yellow trapezoid. The trapezoid and the jumping
direction of the gazelle indicate that this is also the representation of the
flag in the old Arab tradition and that the trapezoid is on the hoist side and
the gazelle jumps towards the fly end.

In a new flag, awarded in 2009, a symbol was added in white that shows a
rising sun over the sea, this again lying over the desert. The sun disk, which
is covered with a white gazelle jumping to the left, is limited by a black gear,
above each tooth yellow sun rays. On the desert floor in front is a palm tree on
the hoist side, and an oil derrick on the fly side. A laurel wreath extends
around the entire representation, the name of the governorate in Arabic at the
top and the name of the governorate in English at the bottom. The symbol extends
from the top to the bottom of the flag. It was awarded as a coat of arms in
2010.
