It is a blue over yellow horizontal bicolour. The municipal coat of arms is shifted to the top that way, that the upper edge of the base is straight upon the borderline of both stripes.
Klaus-Michael Schneider, 14 Dec 2012
In a golden (= yellow) field is a blue kite. On the blue base is a golden panicle of oat.
Meaning:
The division of the shield is symbolising the former municipalities of Großenwiehe und Schobüll, which had been united in 1970. The bird of prey is considered to be canting, as "wiehe" is said to be "Weihe", i.e. a kite. But that's an equivocation, because the name is derived from Old Danish "wighæ", which is a fortification. The panicle is symbolising agriculture as main business line. The colours are those of the county and of the former duchy of Schleswig.

The stars are symbolising the united municipalities of Hörup, Neu-Hörup and Bärenshöft. The blue colour is symbolising the riches of water.

Note the extremely accurate representation of the (canting) linden leaf and fruits.
In Germany, the three most common linden are the common linden (aka Dutch linden), Tilia x vulgaris Hayne (= T. intermedia DC.), the big-leaved linden T. platyphyllos Scop., and the small-leaved linden
T. cordata Miller (= T. ulmifolia Scop., T. parvifolia Ehrh.). The common linden is a hybrid between the two other linden species.

Meaning:
The leaves are taken from the seal of the Karrharde (today Nordfriesland county). Medelby belonged to Südtondern county until 1970 and had been capital of a subcounty within Südtondern until 1965. There had been seven balls in the seal, which had been changed to alder leaves in case of Medelby.
