Shield Argent, a castle Gules with two embattled towers with cone roofs and a smaller central tower with a stepped gable, all on a base of the same and in base surrounded by a semi-circular embattled wall of the same.
Meaning:
The pattern was in use on local seals without shield since the 14th century. Prints exist since 1425. The municipality is mentioned as a city since 1383 and was a possession of the Archbishopric of Straßburg with interruptions until 1803. The tinctures are those of the archbishopric.

Banner and arms were never approved officially. The flag colours red and white are traditional. Due to a pawning to Württemberg yellow was added in 1604. A local banner from 1664 was red parted by a bend Argent with the arms of the Archbishopric of Straßburg.
