In a silver (= white) shield is a red wheel with six spokes.
Meaning:
Osterburken was a possession of the Counts of Hanau and gained market and city rights in 1356 from Emperor Karl IV. In 1376 the city became part of the Archbishopric and Electorate of Mainz. Osterburken was formally appointed to a city in 1409. From the first known seal, dating from the 16th century with existing prints since 1616, the city has used the white wheel on a red field of Mainz on its arms. In 1802 the city became part of Baden, the colour of the wheel was changed to black, but in the late 19th century the counterchanged colours of Mainz were established.
