It is a red over white over red horizontal triband with ratio 1:3:1. The coat of arms is in the white stripe and shifted to the hoist.

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess into red over silver (= white). Above is a silver (= white) wheel with six spokes. Below the field is divided by three red chevrons.
Meaning:
The chevrons had been the arms of the of the Königstein branch of the Lords of Eppstein, who died out in 1535. The wheel is alluding to the Bishopric of Mainz, which overtook most parts of the territory of Eppstein, which had been under direct imperial rule before.
