Shield parted per fess, above Or a stake dam Sable, beneath Sable a sinister facing sabot Or.
Meaning:
Friedrich II the Great established the village in 1748. He is also the name giver of the village. As Brandenburg had been heavily devastated and depopulated during the 30-Years War (1618-1648), it had been the policy of the Brandenburgian Electors to resettle those areas. Due to this policy Friedrich II called 30 families of farmers from the Palatinate and Rhenish Hesse and granted them special privileges and proper farmland. In 1768 some 22 families of crofters, probably from other parts of Prussia, were settled here. Although forbidden by the king, a few years later half of the families produced sabots. This remained an important business line until the 1950ies. Friedrichswalde became the biggest German "village of sabot makers" (German: Holzschuhmacherdorf). This attribute was added to the municipality's name in 2013. The sabot in the arms is alluding to this business line. The stake dam is alluding to the location on the edge of Schorfheide-Chorin, a heather landscape and a biosphere reserve.
