The actual flag and logo were introduced on 30 September 2003, on occasion of the establishment of the SNTS.
The new association was the result of the unification of the Société Cantonale Neuchâteloise de Tir
(est. 1881), the Société Cantonale Neuchâteloise des Tireurs Sportifs (est. 1947) and the
Association Neuchâteloise des Matcheurs (est. 1930). It brings together 36 shooting societies,
at 300, 50, 25 and 10 m, whether with rifle, pistol, small caliber or even compressed air, and has more
than 1800 members. (website)

"The first shooting societies date back to the time of the Principality, as documents from 1406 attest.
Since that time, they have always prospered, and their development has paralleled that of freedoms.
On March 18, 1849, 32 patriots of the fledgling republic, delegates from all districts, founded the
Société Cantonale des Carabiniers Neuchâtelois at Neuchâtel City Hall. It organized
cantonal shootings in 1849, 1850, and 1854 and requested the organization of federal shootings for the
canton of Neuchâtel in 1851 and 1861, without success.
Under the impetus of the Armes Réunies of La Chaux-de-Fonds, on October 23, 1881, a meeting of 25
shooting clubs in the canton in Corcelles created the Société Cantonale Neuchâteloise de Tir
(SCNT).
In 2003, the Société Neuchâteloise de Tir Sportif (SNTS) was born [see above]."
