The club has it as founded in 1878. [That's also what I read from the 1903 Lloyd's.]
I have the broad pennant for 1903-1908 and the burgee for 1912-1927. They
probably were in use longer; I just don't have any data about that. Later,
1917-1927, the Cleveland Ice Yacht Club is depicted in Lloyd's as having a
similar broad pennant, reading C.I.Y.C. instead. Chelsea YC, New York, had a
similar burgee, but with the red and blue exchanged.
