A member of the Southern Massachusetts Sailing
Association, Bass River Yacht Club saw some club racing avant-la-lettre in
the 1890s and early 1900s. It wasn't until 1931 that the yacht club was
organised in South Yarmouth. Typical for a New England club, it pretty soon
acquired a fleet of Beetle cat boats. After the war, the Wianno Sr.s became the
club's dominant boat.
The club's burgee is a blue field bearing a yellow
bent sinister anchor, between white characters 'B' and 'R'. The club is so kind
to make an image available, which served as the base for my example.
