Description of the flag

Monticello has its first official city flag. After being a topic of discussion at a previous council meeting the Monticello city council approved a city flag for the City of Monticello.
Mayor Jake Ellwood said the city has not had a city flag in 190-year existence, so he brought it up to City Administrator Russ Farnum and talks began in December 2025.
“I asked Russ what it would take, and he said we need to come up with the design and adopt one,” Ellwood said.
Ellwood said the adoption of the city flag will hopefully boost community pride.
Ellwood said the design of the flag started between him and Farnum and then expanded into input from the council, as well as city staff members.
