Description

Rao’s is a famous Italian-American restaurant founded in 1896 and located in New York City. More info at https://raossince1896.com and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rao%27s.

In late November 2024, Rao’s had its first-ever float at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a New York City popular commercial event. When announcing this premiere, news outlets illustrated the prospective float with a cartoon-like sketch (I got it from CNN, second-hand via Colbert  -see https://youtu.be/-LbS4Gm35Kk?t=511 2024.11.22 ep. of The Late Show, at timestamp 8′30″). It features a dragon-slaying knight, mounted and in full armour (embodying the pun "Pasta Knight"), and holding a white rectangular flag with the restaurant’s wordmark https://raos.wpenginepowered.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/raos-logo-340x156-1.png, which consists of the name "Rao’s", properly spelled with an actual apostrophe, set in bold serif capitals (seems to be ITC Century Std Bold Condensed typeface), and topped with a superscripted, sans serif "®". This design may or may not be the actual flag of the restaurant, and may or may not have been used in its Macy’s parade float.
