Shield Or with base wavy of Azure and Argent, issuant from base a Roman throughout bridge Sable with four arches, masoned Argent, in chief a fleur de lis Azure flanked flanked by two granaries Sable. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "BORBELA - VILA REAL".

Borbela was one of the 18 communes of Vila Real Municipality affected by the 2013 changes. It had 2652 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 11,9 km².

Coat of Arms

Shield Argent with base wavy of Argent and Azure, issuant from base a triplemount Vert, a baton Vert with a canteen Gules, flanked by two cows passant, respectant Sable. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "LAMAS DE OLO".
Meaning:
Baton and canteen are either alluding to pilgrimage or to St. James the Elder.
