It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain red field.

Shield Or, two roof tiles Gules ordered per fess between a fessy palm leaf Vert in chief and a watermill wheel Sable in base. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "CANDEMIL - VILA NOVA DE CERVEIRA".

Candemil Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Vila Nova de Cerveira Municipality; it had 236 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 5.4 km².

Shield Vert, a throughout bar wavy Argent charged with a barrulet wavy Azure between two grapevines Or leafed Argent ordered per fess in chief and a watermill wheel Argent garnished Sable in base.
Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "JUNTA DE FREGUESIA DE GONDAR - VILA NOVA DE CERVEIRA" (rare; see left flag image above).
Another version has the inscription: "GONDAR - VILA NOVA DE CERVEIRA" (see right flag image above).
