The arms are the same as those of the former Vilares Commune with one difference: the inscription on the scroll is "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE VILARES E CARNICÃES".

Vilares e Carnicães is one of the six communes of Trancoso Municipality created by the merger during the 2013 changes. It had 307 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 20,14nbsp;km².

Shield Gules two olive branches Argent leafed Or in saltire and tied with a ribbon Or, on chief a heraldic rose Or seeded Argent and barbed Azure, issuant from flanches and from base wavy Azure, charged with a barrulet wavy Argent, a "valley" Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "VILARES - TRANCOSO".
Meaning:
This is one more of those Portuguese local civic coats of arms including the idiosyncratic charge "valley" — the archetype of which, pioneered in 1937, is on the municipal arms of Fundão , even if not blazoned as such and depicted in a naturalistic style.

Carnicães was one of the 14 communes of Trancoso Municipality affected by the 2013 changes. It had 153 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 8,44nbsp;km². The commune had no proper symbols or they are unknown.
