Outeiro da Cortiçada Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Rio Maior Municipality (q.v.); it had 674 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 14.5 km².

Shield Argent, a mortar with pestle both Azure, a jug Gules in both corners of chief, in base two rues Vert ordered per saltire fruited Gules and tied Azure. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "ARRUDA DOS PISÕES - RIO MAIOR"
Meaning:
The mortar (Port.: pizoens) is a canting element, and it was just by the locals in the past for the production of flour. The rue (Port.: arruda) is another canting element. It was used in the past as a medical plant (today they say, there are no healing effects).

Arruda dos Pisões Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Rio Maior Municipality (q.v.); it had 405 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 9.7 km². It is presumed that the commune was established in 1702 and it is considered being the oldest commune within the municipality.
