Shield Gules, two spindles Or garnished sable ordered per fess, a 5-point star Or in chief, a millstone Argent in base. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and grey scroll with inscription in black capitals "FREGUESIA DA RIBEIRA GRANDE - MATRIZ".
Meaning:
The star is an attribute of St. Mary, as Our Lady of the Star being the local patron saint.
